Waffle House employee’s HS student visits college
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama (WBRC) – An update on a story that went viral in Birmingham earlier this year. The last time we spoke to Timothy Harrison, he had just graduated from Woodlawn High School. Fast forward – he’s now settling into student life at Lawson State Community College.
“It was definitely an opportunity that came up because I definitely didn’t plan on going to college,” Harrison said.
Just a few months ago, Harrison’s story captured the hearts of so many. The hardworking Waffle House employee showed up for work on his graduation day from high school, ready to start his shift. He didn’t know how he would come to his big time. His coworkers and clients stepped in to get his cap and dress and drive him across town to turn his penis just in time.
And then something special happened again.
“Whenever I hear news like this, I try to see what will follow. What’s the end – what’s the future for that person. While listening to this report, I didn’t hear any college plans, ”said Dr Kesha James, Director of Distance Education.
Lawson State Community College staff immediately took action to get him a scholarship, enroll him and settle in.
Harrison says her story is one that shows the impact of the kindness and restlessness of someone chasing their dreams.
“Something I’m thankful for and grateful for,” Harrison said. “Do the best I can. Take every chance I get and go beyond my limits.
Harrison is studying business and finance and says classes have been going well so far. He doesn’t work at Waffle House now so he can focus on his homework, but he says he could go back to work during the summer.
