Mosley and Bozeman advance to tournament semifinals with run-rule wins
SAND HILLS — Mosley did an easy job of Rutherford in the first round of the Bay County Softball Tournament on Wednesday night, earning a 15-0 victory in just three innings.
The Dolphins (7-5) scored 10 runs in the first inning, added two in the second and three more in the third for the win under the mercy rule.
Amiah Menchaca led the way for the Mosley offense, going 2 for 2 with a triple, a double, two walks, two runs and four RBIs. Aubree Flanagan added a hit, a walk, a run and two RBIs, with Emily Pitts going 1 for 1 with a walk, two runs and two RBIs.
Emily Hartzer and Abby Turner each had a hit and an RBI. Gracie Lewis went 1 for 1 with two walks, two runs and an RBI, and also threw three scoreless, no-hitter innings into the circle with five strikeouts to claim the win.
Mosley advances to Thursday’s semifinals against No. 2 seed North Bay Haven at 5 p.m.
Bozeman 17, Bay High 2 (4)
Game 2 of the County Semifinals wasn’t much more competitive than Game 1, with the Bucks (3-3) outscoring the Tornadoes (1-7) in four innings.
Bay took the lead on an RBI single from Kassidee Davidson that made it 1-0 in the top of the first inning, but Bozeman regained the lead in the half of the first inning on a two-RBI triple from Karlee McLain .
The Bucks added two more runs in the second inning, nine runs in the third and four more in the fourth. McLain led Bozeman with three RBIs, while Dakota Kilpatrick had one hit, two runs and two RBIs, and Colbie Jones had two top hits. Whitney Rogers had a hit and scored three runs.
Zoe Batton added a double and two runs, and Chloe Le had a double, two runs and an RBI. Haylee Deegins pitched four innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts for the decision.
Kylie Cannone hit a home run for Bay, with Kaycee McClellan adding a hit and a run.
With the win, Bozeman advanced to Thursday night’s semifinals against top seed Arnold at 7 p.m. The county championship is scheduled for Friday night at 6 p.m.
