Marvel’s Werewolf By Night Trailer Brings A Chilling Black-and-White Horror Thriller To The MCU

After Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness brought horror elements to the MCU earlier this year, the superhero universe is getting spookier with an upcoming special coming to Disney+ just in time for Halloween. As just revealed during Marvel’s D23 presentation on Saturday afternoon, night werewolf is heading our way in about a month and we get a first look.

The trailer for night werewolf debuted online (above) and it’s a black-and-white Marvel special that seeks to emulate early monster horror films like The Mummy, Dracula Where Frankenstein. night werewolf is based on the Marvel character who has his roots in the 1950s, who is expected to be played by Mozart in the Jungleby Gael Garcia Bernal.

The night werewolf special was officially announced in August 2021but now we know one of Marvel’s quirkiest characters will make its MCU debut, and soon. The trailer has a creepy yet comedic approach and is surprisingly completely black and white. Also among the actors is Foreign‘s Laura Donnelly, apparently as a monster hunter similar to buffy the vampire slayerElsa Bloodstone, alongside Desperate Housewives‘Harriet Sansom Harris and The Muppets‘Kirk R. Thatcher.

As for the premise, it seems like it’s setting up a literal game of Werewolf, where a group of hunters are assembled to capture the real werewolf, but cannot tell his Gael García Bernal as long as his Jack Russell persona remains in his human form. As the night werewolf The trailer reveals that Jack will transform into a werewolf and have a whole group of hunters to dodge.

In Marvel Comics, Jack Russell is one of two versions of the comic book publisher’s take on the werewolf, the other being Jake Gomez. Jack comes from a long line of werewolves after his family was cursed with lycanthropy in Transylvania around 1795 after being bitten by a female werewolf working for Dracula. Generations later, Jack inherits the curse on his 18th birthday and uses the curse’s abilities to fight crime.

night werewolf is one of many news during the Marvel Studios panel at the D23 Expo on Saturday, which CinemaBlend is in attendance. Marvel also released the first trailer for Secret Invasion and more details on Captain America 4. Along with the D23 announcement, Marvel Studios also unveiled a poster of night werewolf. The Halloween special should air for those who have a Disney+ subscription October 7. A Marvel Holiday Special in the form of Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is also slated for a December release. Looks like the MCU is getting more festive this year on streaming.
