FIRST ALERT – Showers and a few thunderstorms will arrive just in time to start the work week

First warning headlines
- A few days in the 80s before the cooler temperatures arrived
- A few isolated showers and thunderstorms will arrive on Monday
- There is a slight risk and a marginal risk of strong to severe thunderstorms in the region on Monday
- We are monitoring calm conditions in the tropics.
Summary of the first alert
Sunday will be sunny, warm temperatures and low humidity. The last day of the SC State Fair.
Some showers will arrive in the early morning as the pre-frontal humidity arrives before the approach of a cold front. Monday afternoon the front is getting closer and some more showers will arrive, but this time there will be a few thunderstorms encrusted in the rain. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a “slight risk” for severe storms for parts of upstate South Carolina and the western portion of our region. They issued a “marginal risk” for the Central and East Midlands.
We will be monitoring the sky during the afternoon for any thunderstorms developing in the wake of the approaching front.
Temperatures will start to cool after the front has passed, daytime highs will be in the 60s and 70s until the end of the week.
Conditions remain calm in the tropics
Sunday: Usually sunny and warmer with highs in the 80s.
On Monday: Partly cloudy. Isolated showers and storms (30%). Highs from the bottom to the mid-80s.
Tuesday: Cooler. Mixture of sun and clouds with highs in the 70s above near 80.
Wednesday: Partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid-70s.
