Peoples’ Democratic Party Chairman Mehbooba Mufti said on Monday that the boundary commission removed the system of constitutional reforms at J&K in order to disempower the majority community here.

In a conversation with reporters at the party headquarters in Srinagar, she said that the PDP already had apprehensions about setting up a boundary commission to advance the BJP agenda and this is clear from the fact that no constitutional reform was followed by the commission.

“The commission just wanted to strengthen the BJP constituencies and disempower the majority community in Rajouri, Kashmir and Chenab Valley. They’ve de-franchised the system so that people’s votes don’t affect election results,” she said.

She said BJP wants to turn this nation into Godse nation for which they are using Jammu and Kashmir as a laboratory. “Everything is tested here, just like under the guise of a boundary commission, the BJP has screwed up everything at J&K. The BJP is pursuing Godse’s agenda and dividing Hindus and Muslims across the nation.

She said they only strengthen their own party by weakening other parties. “It is not a government, it is a dictatorship. The current government does not listen to the people and only wants to continue its 70 year old program of transforming the India of Gandhi into the India of Godse”, she added.

Mufti added that it is very unfortunate that journalists are now being targeted by the administration.

She said the government doesn’t want anyone telling the truth here and they don’t want anyone challenging their false narrative of normality in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
