Alex Pereira knocks out Sean Strickland in first at UFC 276

On the UFC 276 main card, we saw a title eliminator in the middleweight division. The entertaining and popular Sean Strickland (25-3) returned as he took on one of the UFC’s most decorated forwards in Alex Pereira (5-1).

Alex Pereira is best known for his two wins, including a knockout against current UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. He is 2-0 inside the octagon so far, with one of those wins being a sensational flying knee knockout.

Sean Strickland had a decent run in the UFC in the welterweight division, then he had a motorcycle accident that almost cost him his career. When he came back to the UFC in 2020, he came back to the middleweight division and he was sensational. It went 5-0 on its way to the fourth division ranking.

Round 1

The UFC 276 middleweight contest started with a touch of glove. Strickland immediately takes the center and begins to press. Pereira is light on his feet and opens up with kicks. Strickland’s jab and both men just feel each other here.

Kick from Pereira, then the two men exchange blows. Pereira’s right hand just misses and Strickland keeps the pressure on here. Front kick to the body from Strickland and Pereira responds with a calf kick. Another nice low blow from Pereira lands.

Big right hand on top of Pereira and he looks really comfortable here in the first. Jab from Strickland then out of nowhere Pereira catches it with a huge left hand. Down takes Strickland down but he bounces back just in time to eat a right hand that puts him down at UFC 276.
