24/09/2021: The heavy rains are ending, the autumn air arrives today
The latest Storm Tracker forecast from meteorologist Jill Szwed.
Happy friday! Lot after lot of heavy rain overnight led to lots of puddles and water on the roads this morning. Take your time during the morning commute. A slow front will push rain into New England by mid-morning. Until then, expect the same – almost constant rains that will be heavy at times.
Conditions will improve dramatically once the rain clears from here. There will be sun at the end of the day. Temperatures will not be as hot with highs closer to 70 degrees.
A beautiful fall weekend is on the way! It will be cool and dry. After starting in the 1940s, temperatures will peak in the 1960s for most on Saturday.
Cozy autumn air will remain for Sunday. A low track around Hudson Bay will send rain towards the US border. Parts of the Adirondacks and northern parts of the country will see more cloud and a few showers as a cold front approaches. The capital district and areas to the south and east will remain dry.
The fall weather this weekend may make you crave fall activities. Just in time, some fall colors are starting to appear. Foliage reaches 50% in parts of the Adirondacks, Catskills, and higher terrain of Vermont. If you do a bit of leaf viewing this weekend, we’d love to see your photos!
The fall air is here to stay as we wind down September. The high temperatures will remain in the 60s until the end of next week. There are also cool mornings in our future.
